    Labor 101

    In your Labor 101 class, the atmosphere is one of empowerment, education, and support, providing expectant parents with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the childbirth process with confidence.

    The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including:

    *Understanding the stages of labor and what to expect during each phase, including physical sensations and emotional changes.

    *Preparing for labor, communicating birth preferences and pain management options.

    *When to call for help when your less than 20 weeks along.

    *When to go to the hospital after 20 weeks along.

    *Interventions and Unexpected Outcomes: Participants are educated about common interventions and procedures that may arise during labor and delivery, such as inductions, fetal monitoring, assisted delivery (e.g., forceps or vacuum extraction), and cesarean sections. They learn about the reasons these interventions may be recommended, as well as their potential benefits, risks, and alternatives.

    Throughout the class, there is ample opportunity for participants to ask questions, share their concerns, and engage in group discussions. The atmosphere is nonjudgmental, supportive, and inclusive, with a focus on empowering participants to make informed decisions that align with their individual preferences and values.

  • Breastfeeding help

    Breastfeeding Basics

    Throughout the class, the instructor covers essential topics related to breastfeeding, including:

    *The benefits of breastfeeding for both the baby and the parent.

    *Understanding the anatomy of breastfeeding, including the role of the breast and nipple.

    *Positioning and latch techniques to ensure a comfortable and effective breastfeeding experience.

    *Common challenges and how to overcome them, such as engorgement, nipple pain, and low milk supply.

    *Strategies for successful breastfeeding, including how to establish a good milk supply and recognize hunger cues in the baby.

    *Partner support and ways for partners to be involved in the breastfeeding journey.

    The atmosphere is nonjudgmental and supportive, with the instructor emphasizing that every breastfeeding journey is unique and may come with its own set of challenges. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences and concerns, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support among the group.

    Classes are $195 and offered once a month on:

    Wednesday evenings at 6:00-8:00PM

    Sunday Afternoons at 1:00-3:00PM

    Are you expecting a baby and wondering how to navigate the exciting yet challenging journey of co-parenting a newborn? Join us for a comprehensive 2.5-hour workshop designed to equip you and your partner with essential skills and strategies for co-parenting and newborn care.

    Workshop Highlights:

    *Baby Care Basics: Learn practical tips for feeding, diapering, bathing, and ensuring safe sleep for your little one.

    *Co-Parenting Strategies: Discover effective ways to share responsibilities, stay connected, and support each other during the newborn phase.

    *Self-Care and Mental Health: Understand the importance of self-care and learn how to manage mental health challenges together.

  • Prenatal Yoga

    Prenatal Partners Yoga Workshop

    Open to the pregnant person and her primary Birth Partner, an all level 2-hour workshop to help prepare for labor and birth.

    Yoga can be an essential component in remaining grounded, calm and present during birth and beyond. Our workshop begins with a gentle yoga sequence to stretch and move the spine. We’ll work with the breath and poses for strength, flexibility and opening. Class ends with a deep relaxation for all. Along the way we’ll add in effective and comforting poses for pregnancy and labor, massage for the pregnant person, and affirmations for both.

    All trimesters and birth philosophies welcome, no yoga experience necessary. This workshop complements any birthing preparation classes you may be taking. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, bring a light snack and water bottle.

    Class is $120 per couple offered quarterly on:

    Hypnobirthing

    The HypnoBirthing® program is a comprehensive educational process that includes special breathing, relaxation, visualization, meditative practice, attention to nutrition and positive body toning.

    HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method, will teach you how to access your inner birthing instincts and trust in your body’s ability to birth. You will learn HypnoBirthing techniques, including affirmation, massage, visualization, breathing patterns, deep relaxation, and self-hypnosis.

    Classes offered in 3 week series for $525

    Session 1: August 21, 28, September 4

    Time: 6pm-9pm

    Session 2: September 14, 21, 28

    Time: 1pm-4pm

  • Newborn care class

    Newborn Care class

    Get to know your newborn, including how they may look and behave. You will learn about caring for their daily needs and keeping them safe and healthy. In-person session at Little Seeds in Lafayette.

    Covers: health concerns, appearance, feeding cues, bottles/formula, crying/soothing, sleep, bathing, diapering, swaddling and supplies.

    Includes a copy of Settling in With Baby, a book co-written by your instructor, Heidi Kate.
